Engine shuts down while driving

I have a 2006 ford explorer limited.
It has shut down while driving several times.
I can always re start the car once i stop and put in park.
Very dangerous when running on the thruway with loss of breaks and power steering
has anyone else had this issue ?

Check the crank sensor connector. It will not start if loose, it will shut down the engine when loose. On a v8 it is behind AC compressor on the passenger side.

I have the same car. I have replaced mass airflow sensor and crankshaft sensor without luck. Did you resolve the issue? Anxious to hear your solution. thx.
