Engine sometimes starts then dies

Hey everyone I need some help cause i dont know what my problem is and i couldnt find it specifically in other threads. Occasionally after i have been on the freeway it seems. After letting my car sit for a while I go to start it again and it starts fine but wont stay running, it died twice tonight before i just hit the gas fairly hard and then it seemed as if the problem was erased, it doesnt always do this and it sometimes only runs ****y so if anyone can help or give advise i would appreciate it thanxs

Had the EXACT same problem this morning with my 99 sport SOHC. I came back from a long highway trip last night, raining, etc. Came out this morning and my X starts, then dies, like its not getting any fuel/incorrect mix etc.. Stepping on the gas while starting will get it running, soon as I let off, it sputters and dies.
I found the solution here (sort of)... There is a relay? electronic switch , etc on top of the air intake assembly, just near where you replace your air filter, I tapped it a couple times (not hard) with the end of a screwdriver, started the truck, and runs like normal. There is something in there getting stuck. I have an appt with the dealer end of this week, I am going to ask them to replace it. Is this the IAC? dunno... possibly...

Maybe the IAC?? My trcuk stalled right after the engine started unless you give it some gas to keep it from stalling. I replaced the IAC and everything went back to normal.
