Whats up guys.
I just got back a few hours ago from a 4 month deployment and was greeted with some not so good news.
After reconnecting the battery, my 08 V8 Explorer with 79,000miles started up like she had just been running a few minutes earlier. However, when I drove away, I noticed it was sputtering whenever I was accelerating. The noise sounds somewhat like a piston not firing, but the power loss isn't as big as I would expect it to be if one was out. Idling is fine. It doesn't sound strange and the rpm's are steady.
I ran the tank damn near dry before I got deployed, but I didn't mix anything in to the remaining fuel for storage.
I already put some Fuel Injector cleaner in when I filled her up and i'm gonna sea foam the truck first thing tomorrow morning along with an oil change and new spark plugs.
My question is, what do you guys think could be causing the problem? The truck is on an island in the pacific, this place is very humid and subject to a crapload of rain and salty air.
Is there anything else I should be adding to my maintenance list?
