Guys - would appreciate your thoughts here.
About two weeks ago, I went to the store in my 2002 Sport Trac (4.0 L). When I came back out the truck started, and then Immediately died. It would not re-start. I reset the fuel pump switch, pulled the fuse for the fuel pump, disconnected the battery, etc and would crank over but wouldn't fire. I went to call a cab, and after letting it set about 25 minutes, it started right back up, and ran fine.
Now I have noticed that when it starts when it is cold it acts like it wants to stall, to the point that I have to hit the gas to keep it running some times. Also very occasionally when I am driving I notice that when I come to a stop sometimes the idle dips but it has never cut out.
I have been reading about cleaning the Idle Air Control to fix those symptoms, which I did and there was no improvement.
I am wondering what my next steps should be. Should I replace the IAC valve? I dont want to spend the cash if it may be something else. Any other things to check?
Its been a great vehicle, about 130K on the odometer, and no real troubles.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
