Over kill....Thing thing to remember about racing engines is, they are not designed to last..They are designed for Max. RPM,HP, and Torque..Unless you don't plan on driving your vehicle everyday or can afford to spendover ten grand a year for engines, stay away from it.I can honestly say, from my past experiences, that the more you modify an engine, the more you have to work on it..I'm sure that others will back me up on that..

if you'd be going with a diesel swap,,,, now that would be something to consider but this???? I don't know if I want to race my X....... it's a truck!

lol

good thought though,,

they do have what they call street rod engines that they say are reliable for street use. this is what i was looking at. Dead Link Removed

Their street rod engines should be pretty reliable. I like this one: SR 347-02 390HP* 9:1 compression GT-40 1.94-1.50 valves $3899.00. It has conservative compression, good fundamental parts, and should fly! With a good intake and exhaust system that Explorer would be a beast. Just ask Troll :) You can even change the GT40 heads for Dart II heads and gain 65 hp. Also, the "stock" cam settings on these engines are fairly conservative and the street engines shouldn't rev much higher than a normal Ford 302.

hey alec, thats the stroker right? would the block strength be sacrificed due to the bigger crank? im not sure about the 302 block but ive seen a show on tv about the ch$%y small block stroker and they removed some of the metal around where the crank spins for clearance. i really wouldnt like to send a rod out the side of the block because of a domino effect warpage problem. i was looking at ser-302-02 it still has an advertised 365HP. thats a hell of alot more than 160- that my v6 has.

Word of warning....I have talked to DSS racing www.dssracing.com and they told me not to use a 347. They told me to use a 331 stroker b/c the 347 is a high maintainance motor. Now I know Troll uses a 347, but I also am believing what they say b/c I see no reason why they wouldnt wanna make more money by selling me the 347 over 331....Just my thought
Pete
