How tough is the 2002-2005 4.0L sohc V6 and how many miles does it last?

I have 100k on mine, still going strong (it better!), no oil consumption, 21-22 mpg on hiway.

Mine has 102k miles and i hope it lasts a long time. It also consumes no oil and it still gets good gas mileage. I run mobil 1 synthetic and change it every 5k miles.

121k the V6 runs great, now the rear end and the transmission not so good.

Last year my rear end blew at about 80k miles. It was in the shop for about two weeks. The good news is that enterprize car rental gave me a 2005 ford explorer xlt to drive for the same price as their chevy malibu!

The engine (made in Germany) is probably the strongest point of the vehicle.

Is it a good thing that the engine is made in germany? I didn't know that ford used german parts. I just hope it lasts a long time. :)

Is there anything else good about this engine?

a buddy of mine has a 94 xlt with 180k on it with original engine and auto tranny. which is pretty damn good.
