So my 94 LTD is giving me some grief, i will turn it on and some times it wont even idle, it will rev up and drop down to about 500 rpm and then almost kill itself and bounce back up. Sometimes it even kills itself. the odd part is that at times, i'll be sitting at a red light and it will leech forward and give itself gas(good thing i don't tailgate, right?). I already know its missing every once and awhile on a cylinder so im thinking that if i replace the plugs and wires it should repair the missing. if you have a tip, hit me up on aim and Craztman2002. or heck, give me a call, (425)445-5398 (Chet)

Vacuum holes leak somewhere? I would check to make sure the air cleaner is clean, makes the Mass air flow meter is not dirty (remove it and clean it with carb cleaner). Doing all that, you should be alright.

well i made an ironic discovery, i've been running 89 octane and i burned all of that and put some 87 in and it seems to run better. I also purchased new spark plugs, they might be grimey and not sparking as hot. The air filter is clean, i checked that about a month ago.

Duh.

I had a dodge(lord knows why) with similar symptoms turned out to be an EGR.just a guess.almost forgot it didnt throw a code,or check engine light either.

Hmmm

I had a ranger of the same year. Had a problem with my idle going up and down repeatedly. After replacing half the parts under the hood, it turned out to be the PCV Valve. A simple $3 part. Ran like new after that.

im thinking that it is the PCV valve because i turn off the engine and i can hear a hissing like an induction from(i dont know the proper name) but the unit mounted to the rear of the engine compartment to the left of the engine just past the distributor, if any one is familiar with it(i can take pictures if neccessary.)

I think everything was covered here. Vacuum lines, EGR, PCV. A dirty/bad IAC can do that as well. I also had a bad batch of gas in the tank with the same symptoms, had to pump it out, replace the fuel filter and she ran just fine again.
