Hi guys,

I'm betting this has been covered before but I couldn't really find anything with the search pertaining to my exact combo.

I just checked the axle code in my 99Ex the other day to verify what gears I have and found it was the 3.55. Now my question is I am getting ready to put some BFG 31x10.50's MT's on... will they kill my power/MPG with the 3.55? I'm thinking it will be alright, 31's aren't all that big but I'd like to hear from some of you that have tried this.

You will feel some difference in power and maybe a mpg or 2. I have them on my 98 with 3.73 gears. Your 3.55 is pretty close. They power loss is slight and well worth it for the look of the 31's. I'm extremely happy with the decision to run 31's. They make the X look more like an off-roader.

You'll be ok with the current 3.55s... You don't need to regear unless stepping up to 33s.. I'm currently running 33x12.5 with 3.27s (I need to regear). Around town I keep overdrive off and do just fine.. On the highway it is ok on flat stretches, but any hill or incline makes it difficult to maintain speed. :thumbdwn:

Good to hear, thanks for the input guys.

I really love the look of the BFG MT's and I just gotta get rid of those weenie stock Goodyear 235's.... But I really had to sweet talk the wife into it and if the MPG goes to hell I'll never hear the end of it ;)
