Motorcraft CX1690 Fuel Vapor Storage Canister -- you can order them new for about $75 if you shop around. The Motorcraft CX1624 Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid is another $60 new if needed as well. You have maybe 2-3 feet of hose hooking them together. I doubt a yard would be over $25. If anything, going out to a yard to pull these will give you an opportunity to learn before you work on your own truck.
The parts are not hard to reach once you drop the spare tire. The solenoid is on top of the gas tank at the rear. There is one electrical connector on it and two air hoses. The hoses run to the canister which is about 1 foot farther back up on a bracket next to the frame. A simple set of sockets will remove the mounting bolts to drop the bracket. The canister has one bolt holding it to the bracket at the front. You'll need a screwdriver or pair of vice grips to take off the hose clamps. There isn't too much you can mess up. The 2 cautions are these are plastic parts so don't overtighten and definitely don't smoke around the fuel vapors.
I'd call it an under 30 minute job for a first timer once the spare is moved. If you want a little more wiggle room under the truck, take off the rear left tire. It is not required for this job, but you can get a better view of the top of the fuel tank from that wheel well if you are replacing the solenoid.
