Evaporative emission control system solenoid valve.

I own three 1997, 3.0 lit. aero's. I am looking for a source to purchase the solenoid and sensor for this O.B.D code # P1443. It sucks the gas vapors from the tank and sends it to the engine, I think? Thanks in advance for all replies!! Tim

Welcome to this forum! Are you looking for the purge solenoid? Do you have a Ford part number? Check the list of vendors in the vendors section or the bottom of the main forum page.

I want the solenoid and sensor so I can swap them out when its time for their smog checks. Thanks for the fast reply. I was actually reading another thread with your input and went to Rockauto site and found the solenoid but not the sensor. I think I'll call them on Monday. Tim

Where is that part located at? my mounty shoots the code and I lose a lot of mpgs but when I clear it stays off for awhile once it comes on it loses mpg

I also have a '97 3.0 liter Aerostar. Try pulling the solenoid out and cleaning it up with mineral spirits. I soaked the top of mine in mineral spirits and cleaned as much of the carbon build up from inside the little tubes as I could. I then put a small drop of mineral oil in the tube to help lubricate the small piston.
I've had to do this twice to mine. But it is now working fine. The good thing is I can actually tell when the solenoid valve is stuck when I start the van up and know what to do.
