My 98 will get a SAS ( already have the parts) one of these years but for now I'd like to get some 32'' tires under it.

Being new to any type of independent suspension my question is do I even really need new keys to fit 32's under my EX without trimming? Maybe just crank it up as is maybe 1 1/2''?

I vowed to not spend any money on this front suspension since I'm going to just cut it off in a year or two, but it needs ball joints and I'm not ready to part out my 79 Bronco and start narrowing it's rear. My EX is my daily driver so till I part out my 79 and get another beater to drive I'm not ready to commit to the SAS and rear axle flip.

The reason for the 32's is that I think they can fit my EX for little cash and not look too out of place after the SAS.

What would you guys do in my situation?

You should be able to crank the torsion bars to fit 32s. You'll need an alignment afterwards or kiss those tires goodbye.

And 32s will look like munchkin tires after the SAS. My 33s look too small.

Thanks for the help!

It needs an alignment now anyway so after the new ball joints and TT I figure I'll kill 2 birds with one alignment.

I have one of these coming next week.

So the bumper wont be a problem as far as rubbing.

I'm just sick of having a stock size vehicle after driving my lifted 79 for 18 years. I also think the 32's will look small when it is done for good but that's all the bigger I can go right now I think and have a ''decent'' size for later.

Thanks again!

Don't know what your current axle gearing is, but consider that running 32s may kill your auto trans if its tall gears. Assuming you have auto trans... ;)

My 98 is a 5.0 so the tranny will be fine and I already did a 4406 swap so I have low range.

To answer your question, it has 3.73 which is fine for smaller tires like that IMO. I drive mostly on road and like I said, my last daily driver for 18 years was a 79 Bronco with 6'' lift, 35's, and a built up 460 with 3.50 gears. So I do have a feel for high gears with bigger tires....and I do miss it.

But when I do go off road it is to recover someone or a flexy trail ride kind of stuff, nothing crazy.

Yeah, 3.73 will be fine with 32s, especially with a 5.0 to push them. And, yeah, the 5.0 trans is much tougher than the 4.0 trans.
Carry on!

If you haven't bought it yet, I would skip it. You don't need keys for the torsion bars, and you can buy much beefier Warrior 153 shackles for about the same price.

That's good to know.

I plan on using factory shackles after the axle flip so maybe I'll just get some 3/8'' steel and make shackles.
