Man, it sure look likes everyone is tailgating me in the new Explorer (as compared to my 3 prior Explorers). One of my 3 major pet peeves (the other 2 being, improper lane usage, and failure to signal).

I think it is just the re-design, combined with the lower seating postion and much smaller rear window. It just looks that way, but still annoying.

I doubt it's the design. I bet they are tail gaiting you to get a better look at the new X.

Before you got your X, how many had you seen on the road? I know in my area, in the past month I've maybe see a dozen total in all the driving I do, and I've been looking. Most of the ones I've seen have been going the opposite direction, but if I were ever to find one in front or to the side of me, I probably would follow it as long as I could to check it out and admire it.

My guess is you'll have to put up with it for at least a few more months before they start getting more of them on the road, and even then it will be new to many people when they see it.

Enjoy!

There are so many new X's driving around in my area. I see one at almost every corner.
They do turn a lot of heads.

i agree with sm4astan, they just want a closer and better look cos i would do the same! the first 2011 explorer i actually saw beginning this year was a black XLT with black leather seats in a mall's parking. i couldn't resist to walk around the car to check it out!

Didn't get mine yet but have only seen ONE on the roads here in Suffolk County Long Island.

I pulled up behind a Candy Red XLT the other day, salivating a bit because I'm still waiting on my Candy Red Limited. Anyway, turns out he lived in my neighborhood. So I followed him home (at a respectful distance) for about 10 minutes. Snapped a few pics on my cell phone. I wasn't tailgating per se, more like stalking... :-)

I haven't seen too many in my area yet. About two months ago, I came to a screeching halt while running with the dog to check out a black limited in someone's driveway. I walked around it and was hoping the owner would come out to see the crazy lady stalking his vehicle so I could ask some questions. :)

I agree, theyre getting a better look. I would be too any chance I got. There's not a 1 in my town in the Orlando area, and I'm on the roads quite a bit. I keep my eye out just so I can get a closer look with the curiosity of a newborn kitten.

Mine has been slated to arrive today, so maybe I should be expecting some tailgaters. I hate em too, but I can understand.

I's sure it has nothing to do with people trying to catch a look/see of the new Explorer, and more to do with the new seating position and the much smaller rear window design.

One guy who I thought was tailgating me pulled right next to me and rolled their windows down. They were like, "how the hell did you get that car? That's a sweet ride man! I tried to find one but no dealerships have them around MD!" Yeaaaah! I also saw a Kona Blue Explorer the other day along with a White Platinum Tri Coat Explorer. The numbers on the road are increasing!

Such a stalker you are!!! I don't think you mentioned taking pics on your camera! LOL

I purchased my explorer in January & just saw her first "sister" last week! And I've been looking too!
