I just got a new muffler. And since then my car has been heating a lot hotter than it normally does. Would the muffler effect how hot the engine runs?

Curious....How? My dad kinda thinks its the muffler. But I think it is something with the cooling system, even though I repalced hoses, thermo, and cap in the past 2 months. Its a Ravin muffler. Thanks for input.

If the muffler is clogged, with catalytic converter material or just clogged with its own material, exhaust gases will not be able to exit as quickly as it should, thus keeping more heat in the motor. There should also be some performance issues also such as sluggish acceleration.

Does everyone agree with this????? Just want to make sure.

If all you did was a new muffler and you are running a lot hotter then i'd guess something not related to the muffler is causing the overheating. If your muff was plugged or restricted you'd really notice a loss of power.

Check out your cooling system.
