basically i went to a exhaust shop today and was getting prices on a custom job for my 98 explorer sport, but they either didnt have the exhaust i wanted or the parts where a little on the high side....does any one know where i can get pipes( dual exhaust) and a flowmaster exhaust for a good price..thanks

well they where talking about a flowmaster 50 series muffler costing about $130 and one shop said the job would cost me $450 total which is a little crazy for what they have to do while other shops where talking about $300 which is a little more resonable....i just figured i could save a little money by buying the parts myself and having them do the work
 






After all was said and done, I paid around $450 for my dual exhaust. I think it was well worth it. It was a quality job and it was done the way I wanted it. I have nothing to complain about and would gladly spend the money if I was gonna do it all over again. Every shop in my area quoted me about the same but only one shop would do it with the spare tire in.
 






buy the mufflers from summit and take them to the exhuast shop. 130 for a muffler sucks ass
 






A custom single out setup is normally around $200, while duals average about $375.
 






This is the break down of my dual system...
12' of pipe......................$120
50 series SUV muffler.....$120
2 stainless steel tips......$90
Labor was about............$70-90 (can't remember)

As I said before, I am totally happy with my setup and would do it again in a heart beat.
 






98FordX24 - How's that setup sound? After a radar detector, the exhaust system is next...I was definately thinking dual Flowmaster 50 series, but whats the difference between 50 series SUV and regular 50 series? I'm just looking for a nice, mellow rumble with low interior resonance under normal driving, but when people ask me to rev it up I would just hate to disappoint... :)
 






I love the sound of it!! I get compliments on it all the time and most people think its got a V8. Hell, most people seem to think its actually an SVT. I'm pretty sure the dual in/dual out was only offered in the SUV model. I assume you have the OHV? That will be a single in/dual out muffler which I think you can get in the regular 50 series. The delta flow is supposed to lower the interrior sound.
 












Cant wait to get exhaust...right now I have to make do with putting my ear real close to the pipe and listening to that sweet rumble (the muffler is starting to get a bit old and lose some of its packing :) )- I can see where people think you have a V8.
