Exhaust pipe sizing compared to horsepower

Found this on the magna flow website, keep in mind this is for
non boosted applications, usually supercharged and nitroused vehicles require
a bit more exhaust flow.

http://www.magnaflow.com/07techtips/faq/question10.asp

basically what it boils down to is a stock 200hp engine
needs a full (front to back) single 2.5" exhaust or dual 2.25 for max power and torque.

Any more hp and you need bigger pipes. For the most part l I see
people with mods running louder mufflers but using stock sized single exhaust
pipe which from factory has so many bends the flow is not good at all
or guys with stock engine running monster 3" pipes also not good..
Its all in getting the right balance.
