I got a 97 xplorer sport and I'm shopping around for catback systems

wat u think is the best?

I found the borla rear exit catback w/ dual square cut intercooled tips or the gibson 2 1/2 straight cut catback?

wat do u think?

or I can still get a better one than that

borla gibson and flowie are the best.... Borla is Actually the best but pricey$$$$$ the borla or gibson are fine. so is the flowie

I had a thread a while back asking which was the best for myself, and with an almost unanimous vote, Borla won out. It runs a little over 400 bucks, but they're having a group buy I think, check out the group buys forum. The T-304 steel should last longer than your X. The Gibson claims more pony-power and torque though. And it cheaper, but alot of people say the Borlas are totally worth the extra $$$

Only thing that you need to keep in mind if you decide to get the Borla is the exhaust pipe. When and if you go wheeling, it could get smashed up or if you're backing into a slope, it could damage the piping and possibly the exhaust.

You can't go wrong with either system. Gibson also offers a stainless steel version in addition to the aluminized version, if you really want a stainless steel version.

borla all the way, i got a cat-back system from my truck and now its a lot deeper and i know all the hp gains

borla....that's all there is to it, well worth it's price tag.

Have you considered a custom cat back system from your local exhaust shop?

You can save many dollars and get as good a system custom made for your truck.

Good luck....

how bout?

how bout the flowmasters.... wat can u say bout it....

I'm having hardtime of looking for flowies for ford xplorer sport...

anyone know where to get one?

custom

yeah I'm thinking of just buying the flowmaster mufflers then let the local shop do that...

but I don't know if I can trust them... I doný know how good are they

If you go to the gibson site you can download some sound files of how the gibson sounds with a 4.0. I thought the Gibson sounded a little on the ricey side, not at all the sound I was looking for.

If you want throaty, agg sound go with Flowmaster. To varying degrees, they all have a Flowie sound. Obviously delta flow or 50 series or 70 series will be quieter than 40.

If you want mellow sound then look at Magnaflow or Borla.

Right now I am trying to get a Borla muffler for a custom cat-back and I think I am going to go with 2 1/4" pipes, not 2 1/2". But I haven't decided yet.

i cant stress this enough. just get a flowmaster muffler and have a custom shop install it with piping. they shouldnt charge you that much either because thats all they do!!! Go to carparts.com and choose which flowmaster series you want. then choose the one that looks the closest to the stock muffler and then use the 20% off online coupon that i have been sharing with peeps all week. it ends at the end of june, so hurry up. the secret password is deal . My muffler is on its way. its supposed to be here on July 2nd according to UPS tracking. i'll let you all know how it goes. =)

the loudest

the bigger the better, is it?
mmmmmmmmmmm

wat do u think?

get a flowie mufflers and fit it wit a 3"
'would it work?

is it true the bigger yer yer exhast the louder it gets
wat's th eloudest flowie out there

My friends got a 4.0L OHV with 3" pipe from the cat to a Flowmaster 40, and 2.5" out the back, and its 1dB under legal (for CA). He had 3" all the way, but it did not produce enough back pressure, and was too loud. Even with how it is its pretty dang loud around 2.5k rpm.

This setup is exactly what I'm going to do whenever I get some spare change.

to be or not to be

wat would be the best setting?

wat kind of flowie a 30/ 40/ or a 50

and how big would be the pipes to provide a a good back pressure?

you guys r awesome

thnk u guys

With the 4l sohc motor, you do not want to run 3" pipe. Use 2 1/2 instead, you will get much better performance.

ty

thanks al

much appreciated

so should I get the borla 309's or the flowmaster 40

THE BATTLE IS ON!!!

WHICH ONES U LIKE BETTER

BORLA 309'S WITH DUAL SQUARE CUT

OR

FLOWMASTER 40 WITH CUSTOMIZE 2 1/2 PIPES
