exhaust flowmaster?

I have the 4.0L pushrod motor. I have a cherrybomb (strait through glasspack style) with a downturn. It is loud, but it has a bad tone. I was thinking about putting on a flowmaster with no cats and a single tail pipe. Got any suggestions as to what you think is the best exhaust set-up?

basiclly no cats=not passing inspection but i have a 40 series flowmaster and single 2.50 pipe and i love it

What kind of intake set-up are you running?
My 4.0ohv also runs the flowmaster 40 and 2.5 pipes...straight out the back. I don't think running with no cats is going to give you the deep throaty rumble your looking for in sound. The 40 series will help, but you need a decent intake set-up to compliment the exhaust. I run the KKM, but any open element filter would work.

I had all my cats cut off and im running a flowmaster 40 series delta flow with factory 2.25in piping... i love the sound

Get a KKM, hack off the stock resonator, and stick a flowmaster super 40 on. I swear it's like you have something crazy rad under the hood. Also it sounds pretty cool on the trails.

what is a kkm? anyways, i had a flowmaster 40 series, and had one cat taken out. It is starting to break in and sounds deep and throaty, i love it!

KKM is a conical air filter and adapter that bolts up inplace of the stock air box. It realy frees the revs. Also gives the Explorer a good kick in the pants when it comes to getting off the line.

I've got 3" front to back with a flowmaster 40 and no cats.. Also have a K&N open element air filter.. I found it made a big difference, but I'm willing to bet the cats were half, if not fully, plugged..
