I know i know i've been aroudn long enough and have heard my share of "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" but theres just too much info to sift though.

Heres what i want. I want a muffler that is going to give me a very deep rumble almost like a V8, but not be too loud inside the truck. I would love to get the most preformace for the buck. but basically i want it to sound like i just ate 2 hondas and i'm searching for another to eat up.

my reserch yeilded that magnaflow and flowmaster are what i'm going to look into....
I had a flowmaster non delta 40 single out on my 92xlt, and it was just a bit too loud inside the cab for my liking.... it did sound pretty mean though

also a dual exhaust on a sport is really complex / impossible to run while keeping the spare tire?
any useful info on that issue will do as well. I love the look of duals but if i'll get the same sound as a single out muffler on a v6 that i would with duals then i'll just do a single out...

thanks
ryan

Whats up man , i have a 97 sport with the sohc visit my website and download the clip on the first page. . . my website address is in my signature. I had a custom made Flowmaster dual out catback made, and to be honest i think going custom is just as good or Better, and is definatly more cost effective. The performance gain was pretty nice , i'm sure that if i used a magnaflow muffler i could got a little more but I don't know if it would have the same tone. . . check it out let me know what you think

LOL...

Have you thought of MAC Exhaust at EE? I know it's a bit loud but what if it was covered in exhaust wraps? You know the 2" white strip/cloth they use to eliminate the heat from the headers. Would that lower the noise down? The only reason I'm considering it is because it has CatBack/Mandrel Bent Tubes.

i have duals on my truck , it's a custom setup though cost me 315 installed with the muffler , piping , and chrome tips of my choice all professionally welded.

did you keep your spare tire on?

I'd probably go with the Flowmaster 50 series. My Magnaflow is tempermental. Sometimes the resonance is really quiet, and then last night its annoying as heck at 72 mph (with a resonator installed too). I really am thinking about putting in a 50 series b/c everyone says the tone is good. I'm kinda ho-hum with the Magnaflow now... its tone isn't quite much of anything outside now (the resonator killed that). Its almost too quiet outside (unless I STOMP it) and too loud inside. Before the resonator, it had a beautiful burble at low RPM's and I just loved to blip the throttle around town, but alas, the resonance was unbearable. The one advantage of the Magnaflow is that its a dual in/single out which probably gives a few more HP than a Y pipe (which have to be used with the Flowie ~ they don't sell dual in, single out 50 series). Can I tell a performance difference between stock and with my Magnaflow+KKM, maybe, no, not really, i dunno? I don't drive at WOT and neither have done very much for mileage, I still get 16-17 around town and 18-19 highway (Seen 20 MPG twice and 14.2 on I-70E through Kansas).

I guess in hindsight, I should've put the $200 for larger tires.

i've seen some flowmasters come in dual in/ dual out.

also what is a resonator , sorry if i sound ignorant :)

Picture a can with a whole bunch of twisted metal perforation thingy's lining it. Basically, its supposed to smooth out the exhaust gases as they pass through it and thus kill resonance. (Its not a glass pack like some shops like to use for resonators)

yes I still do have my spare. . .I used a flowmaster 50 series with delta flow, with 2.25 pipes from the muffler outlets to help with some of the torque loss which it definatly did. The setup has a wonderful tone for a v6 it's not annoying sounding it rumbles great at idle and can scream when you want it too , but if you drive your truck easy and keep the revs down it can be quiet. . By the way about that dual in and single out deal . . my exhaust guy first made that y pipe for the inlets and then was not happy with it , so he made an X with the pipes into the inlet and it gave it a different tone and picked up a little more power. right click and save the links to listen to the exhaust also i have a video of me going through my gears if youd like to hear that also. . .

Again you must copy these links into your browser for it to work or right click and save as . . .

Let me know what you think,

Nick

Can you get a pic of your install?
On FM's website I can't find a dual in 50 delta, so I wanna see how your guy did the single in setup with X pipe (or if you have dual in delta that I dont know about).
Thanks

unfortunatly i dont have a digital cam. One of my friends may have one , ill try to get some pics of the setup.
