What do these 4.0L single slammers sound like with no muffler? are they raspy? I want to straight pipe it but im concerned its gonna sound like crap..would putting an aftermarket muffler be smarter? if so, what brand would be the best for sound and cost wise? Thanks guys

I haven't heard for myself but I can only imagine it would sound horrible. Not to mention, you'd lose power and efficiency.

You obviously want loud, though. Maybe some folks will chime in on their favorite loud aftermarket mufflers.

I like my low rumble Dynomax Super Turbo with the resonator removed. I just don't think these engines have the ability to be loud and sound good, but that's subjective.

I have a Gibson cat-back, it sounds real nice.

For our trucks the MagnaFlow muffler sounds really nice (currently installed on mine with custom bent duals, Random Technology pre-cat delete y-pipe and Random Technology single high flow cat) this setup is 2.5" from the y-pipe back.

I've also had a Flowmaster on mine but it rotted out within a year and a half and had a really bad drone sound while driving.

Also look into Spintech mufflers, they sound nice on the 4.0's.

I can pick up a magnaflow muffler from Canadian Tire for about $130 so thats what I'll do next pay! Thanks guys
