exhaust question...

hello i have a 40 series flowmaster on my 1998 5.0 X, it still has the stock "2.25 tailipe and resonator on it. the question is if i cut my tailpipe right before the resonator, to get rid of it, will i lose any power at all?????? i know it will be loud as hell, but im more worried about the power issue. on another thread i read somewhere, someone said it even opens it up your exhaust more, adding more power.

You probably wont loose any power, but you will be dumping some potentially dangerous gasses right under your car, which is not a stellar idea.

how do you have a single 40 on your 5.0, doesnt your 5.0 have dual pipes coming into the muffler?

Go to a 2.75 or 3" exhaust from the cat back with a muffler and tailpipe.
