I would like to get a set of headers for my '91 XLT. I am going to put a KKM intake on it an redo the exhaust also. I want as bad-ass a sound as i can get. I know an explorer isn't a mustang, but i wanna be able to scare all those fart-muffler honda's and acura's. I want rumbles, and i want it to be loud, but not too loud. What should i get for my exhaust? Also, i want headers, and i would like equal lenght headers, but i have't found any. Are there equal lenght headers for a '91 XLT? If not, are JBA's a good header to get? Any suggestions for more power and a better sound?

There aren't any equal-length headers available. The best headers are the Borlas or JBAs, even better ceramic coated. However, if you only have a filter kit and catback exhaust, you won't gain that much from headers. In fact, you might sacrifice low end torque for a slight hp gain at high rpms. If you want sound, I recommend a Flowmaster muffler, but I'm not sure which one.

Good luck.
