Hey everyone, I have a 2006 Mountaineer v8 and I want to build a custom exhaust system. I am at school right now but want to start designing the system now, and need to know the pipe size. I believe it might be a 2.5 inch but can someone clarify? Also any suggestions on what to do for best fuel efficiency and power would be great!

well, if youre "designing" your own exhaust system, don't you think a good
start would be to measure your OWN exhaust and see what the specs are..??
instead of taking someones word for it..???

I mean......how do you know its 2.5in...???

crawl under the truck with a caliper and find out exactly what the
measurement is......I have a 2nd gen, and mine is 2.25 cat back...
not sure if this applies to you....

are you going with mufflers, or straight pipes....???
what kind of mufflers and what do you plan to dump the exhaust...??

hope the xhaust comes out *****in...haha

:salute:

Well, being at school right now, I had nothing to measure with until about 3 days ago. It is a 2.25" pipe running to the back. Im planning on making the part where the two individual pipes conjoin after the cats a 3 inch pipe, and putting a borla pro xs muffler on it. I had borlas on my mustang and wont use anything else. Im gunna post a video up once its done, but probably wont be until the end of the winter

On my 2007 Trac I opened the outlet side of the cats to 2 1/2". I then fabbed up the tubing to a Magnaflow "Y" ( 2 1/2" in 3" out ). I replaced the stock resonator and factory muffler ( 2 3/4" dia. tubing ). The tubing from the "Y" all the way it is 3". I used a Magnaflow large case muffler to help keep resonance down and a nice quiet cabin at highway speeds. It helped a lot on the floor temps when working the vehicle or on long trips at continual speeds. Good luck on you build... :us:
