Exhaust System Question (Flowmaster)

It seems it is time to change my factory exhaust system, I was thinking of installing a flowmaster system, most likely the Flowmaster Force II. Can anyone tell me if it has a load sound or close to stock (quiet). My neighbors would call the cops if they had to hear me drive by everyday. I also have to commute 200 miles to and from work daily the noise would most likely drive me nuts also.

the force ii is perfect for you... it is only a little bit louder than stcok but will give a few horses and will definately sound like a flowmmaster but wont piss off the neighbors

Yes, the force II system is quiet for a flowmaster. A little louder, you know it's there, but not loud enough to cause concern. There is very little noise inside the X from it too.

yeah, get the force II, they are good and will fit your needs...and they wont bother the neighbors like mine does....

I'm not sure if mine are force 2 but they are 2 chambers and they have a nice deep rumble. you'll love it!

I looked at those pics of your X rtstork and its very cool. I was wondering how you got the split rear exhaust on it though. I met a guy here at my apartment who has it on his sport but he had it done illegally. Can you help me out with my 96 XLT?

WHAT? ILLEGALY? having a dual exhuast isnt illegal unless you hacked off the ct/or mufflers... and then having no mufflers is only illegal if it is too loud.....

I have talked to alot of the store clerks at the auto shops where I live and asked about getting the split rear exhaust and they say that they will not make it for the explorer. So i ask the guy at my apt who has it where he got his. He said that he bought it even though it doesnt fit his application and talked to a friend at a shop who could hook it up for him. But that he had to keep it on the DL for legalities. I know that it isnt illegal to have them but i have not found one for my X.

hopefully you can find a muffler shop that will do it for you. Its set up the same as on the fullsize trucks. Good Luck!

Jim man i know that dual exhaust is legal. Im not worried about that. What i was saying is that i cant find a dual exhaust system for my X. For the shop to put an exhaust system on my car that doesnt fit would be illegal.

I think they are yanking your chain because I've used several different muffler shops and had custom dual exhaust setups made. It shouldnt matter. They should be able to just put some mufflers on and bend the pipe. Unless your state has this law, keep looking. Good Luck!

Just got the chance to order my new exhaust system, a friend of mine has an Explorer XLT with dual exhaust and I feel in love. He introduced me to the muffler guy who installed his and by Saturday I will have them on mine Sport, CAN'T WAIT. Let you know how it goes.

And no his are not loud at all, but have a nice low rumble sound. I am definately going the same way.

of course your not going to find a dual exhaust kit you can just oick up at the store you pick out the muffler and tips you want then have the pipes bent custom to you x

That is exactly what is going to be done the guy is going to bend it to shape, he already has the tips and the muffler, it is just getting it done.

Finally got the chance to do it, got the flowmaster, a little louder then expected but love the sound. Am a very happy camper...

i was hoping the force II would be a little louder than it is. the exit pipe is also on the side unlike the stock rear exit. it looks kind of odd with my 2" bodylift. i was thinking of trying a 40 series muffler but they arent the same size as the 50 series delta flow which is what the force II uses. it does sound better than stock though.

For my area if I have anything louder, my neighbors would have me shot by the cops. For my situation it was the perfect mod to have added to my X.
