Explorer 4x4 trouble

I have automatic four wheel drive, I push the button on the dash and the indicator light comes on but the hubs and wheels don't lock in. Anybody had this problem but knows how to fix it please help.

Also, in the stock '91-'94 forum, Maniak has a troubleshooting thread stickied that gives a pretty thorough battery of tests to determine where the problem is.

If both the dash 4x4 and button lights engage the most likely problem would indicate a bad hub..
