Explorer Acting Up

1998 Explorer Limited, overhead six / automatic / 4wheel drive.
In traffic, engine suddenly rev's high & pulls me forward. Had to shut engine
off. Mechanic found nothing wrong after $110.
Again at drive thru. Put in park & engine rev's to 4k & then back to 1k.
205k miles. Nobody can explain. Am I forced to go to dealer?

it seems like you may have a few problems.. the first part about the vehicle pulling you forward at a stop light.. im no expert but i believe that could have to do with your torque converter.. and high revs have been linked to the AIC i believe..
