Who makes door pods for the 97 style Exploders?
I want to put a maybe a 8" 6"-"4 and tweeters in the door.
I'm looking for tight, fast midbass kick!
I did a search here but not much came up.
yEa !

Nobody makes them. All custom work my friend....
There's a company that makes kickpods, but the max size for the driver is 6.5" I think.
I built some pods for the door. Not too tough, just requires patience and lots of research / planning.

Thanks~
I was afraid of that. You wouldn't have any pics to share ofyour install?
I really want to go with some Focal, Dynaudio, or Morel in the doors. I can imagine the doors would need some severe dynamating.
Looks like Q-logic doesn't make pods for the 97Ex . -
Bset,

Sure. If you are allowed to view the pictures related to my profile, there are a bunch there. This was my first time fiberglassing pods (in the doors) and the kick panels I got from Q-Form. They're not listed for sale anywhere. Search this site for a thread I started with the word "kick pod" and you'll get some information on those.

Best of luck.

if you look for kick panel youll find the q logic panels. i believe they are actually "q forms"

Outstanding! Sweet install! The Q-form looks nice. I was inspecting the kick panels last night and the E-brake looks like it would be in the way. I will check out the other threads. Thanks!!

yEa!

you gotta bend the e brake outta the way. i'd show you mine but i dont have any pics

Yep, you'll have to bend the brake. I did it two years ago. No problems.

yea, if you use your ebrake alot it might suck...i never use mine so its cool.didnt realize yours was a stick, cool.

Great pic! So you really have to bend it.. in the name of good sound Yes! It doesn't interfere with the operation of the brake pedal?
yEa!

Yep. Mind you, I have a stick, so leaving it in first gear is almost enough. But the brake works fine. Also, you can shorten the cable to where you barely depress the pedal and the parking brake engages.... I wanted to go that route, but just found bending the pedal easier.

Karl,

what part # are you q-logic pods ? are they the QL-K2006 part # ?

Q-logic said they had nothing from '97-up ?

the 2006 part is supposed to only be for '95-'96 model years ?

if the part's #'s match your's....
did you have any trouble getting it to fit ?
I ordered the above part # to try and make it work,if not crutchfield said I can return it.

if you got it to fit your '98 sport,it should fit my '99 sport ?? shouldn't it ?

They will fit. Here's the secret, you cannot call Crutchfield. I went into my local car stereo shop, befriended the manager, and he called his Q-Form sales rep. Q-Form made these, but realized they interfere with the driver's side emergency brake pedal action, so they were never marketed. Q-Form will have to send these to you (or the stereo shop). AND, you'll have to bend your emergency brake pedal a bit...
Karl

great !!

just double checking !!!

the part # I ordered from crutchfield is the QL-K2006 in grey,

your saying that this part will in fact work ??
and this was the same part you used ??

I told crutchfield everything, that q-logic said they didn't make the part for my year, but that the Gen 2 explorers were basicly the same, and he said as long as I didn't damage the pods I could return it if it didn't fit !

they were pretty cool about this, even said they would pay for the return shipping !

I've been pulling my hair out going overt this upcoming install, this should come out pretty decent now !!!!!!
thanks,
William

after going through your replay a 2nd time.......
I get the idea that your not using the part # that is on the way to me ??

can you confirm that your part # was indeed the QL-K2006 part #
made for '95-'96 model years ?

the bending of the parking brake is in the instructions for the '95-'96
part #

Part #

I do not remember. I don;t think I even have the receipt. I can give you the store phone # and the manager's name if you want, but that's about all I got. His Q-Form rep is who got them.
Best of luck!
Karl

Karl :, I'll take all the info you can give me on this, knowing that part # would save me time and probably some money.
How long has it been since you bought them ?

your dealers phone # as well as the rep would be great !

thanks

Ok !!

Heres what I found out FINALLY from Q-logic.....

they now say,After I practically demanded to speak with someone with several years experience , "YES it will fit just fine"

HOWEVER,the E-brake will no longer work,it will be unusable
I'll get that sucker working somehow, that shouldn't be a huge problem.

thanks to Karl for all your help and input !
I've got the med graphite spray paint coming to get the perfect match to
the interior !! {M4245J} along with some clear from paintscratch.com

now I'm sure this will work out just fine !

you live and you learn,

and I'm going to learn from this one let me tell you.......
the 3-way JL component set I bought from ebay is seriously defective,
both tweeters as well as both 6.5" woofers don't work, also the seller
{indoaudio} does not answer the phone, and is very hard to get ahold of via email .
I never checked his feedback rating :o bigtime mistake by me
I had this setup installed at a shop and they couldn't figure out what was wrong till they hooked up their own 6.5" and tweeters to the crossover and that was it.......

an expensive lesson as the installer did a great job laying everything out
and all I get to use is the 2 coaxials in the rear

I'm  at myself right now.
