Help,

My dealer replaced my rear speed sensor.

Does anyone know what that is and what it does?

Is there somewhere I can look to find the part definition and purpose?

I think this was the cause of my speeding ticket..

Thanks,

Ethan

The speed sensor is in you rear differential, its used to calibrate wheel speed for vehicle speed and for ABS operation. Its called the rear speed sensor because you also have one on each front wheel.

I think...

It is actually part of the transfer case (at least is was in the 2nd gen models) and I believe it may be used for speedo instead of the Vehicle Speed Sensor which went away in '98 I believe.

hey guys i've searched all over the boards and stuff for the speed sensor and what it does anyway i havea friend that works/worked as parts manager at padre ford mazda in corpus christi now he works at access ford close to town anyway i told em i had a problem with my truck everytime when the road is sorta wet and i'm driving my truck and come up to a stop then i give it some gas to take off and i take the turn the truck almost totally fishtails and i have to literally pull of some of them race car/police manuevers to keep it strait on the road but keep in mind thats pretty much almost just when the road is wet sometimes it does it when its dry but rarely anyway he told me it was the speed sensor or the abs sensor and was wondering if anyone ever had the same issue as i have? let me know and if so how can i fix it? thanks in advance!

If the roads just wet.. try not slamming on the gas?

If the roads icy.. just dont slam the gas... problem solved :D

Seriously though, if somethings causing your auto 4x4 to not kick in i wouldnt know the answer...

I'm guessing you have the factory limited slip and you're giving it way too much gas.

Also, proper puncuation and capitalization would really help people understand your posts!
