Explorer run in the Northwest..

Hey Fox,

Your more than welcome to join us and so is your friend. I'm sure that some of my friends are gonna be there also. There are a few ford trucks, and some jeeps.

Are you wanting to join us next weekend or are you interested in the run that we are trying to put together in February ?

I think it's about a 4-5 hour drive from Portland. All you would have to do is get on I5 and then hit 101 by olympia. Then just follow 101 till you hit Sequim.

I think it would be a blast if we got about 15-20 people together, plus the folks that I know here. And all camped out in the woods.

Take care,

We'll the truck is still in the shop as of today but I am hoping for tommorrow....god its hard being patient. Builds more character. Any way. I'm all about a run in feb....let me know and i'll take vacation if i have to.

Hi agian, well i got the best x-mas bonus EVER!!!!!!
my boss hooked me up with 4 33/12.50s mud t's. amd my parents also gave me a 3" body and detriot e-z locker. but i have not yet ben able to fix my 8000lb tx2.who needs that anyway explorers don't get stuck!! So i would love to go on the febuary trip. What date would that be? And the camping idea sounds really cool. let me know and i'll do best to round up as many people as posible, the more the better right!?

and as soon as i can i will get a few pics of my killer explorer on the page. if you want to email me- lifted3@netzero.com

Hey Fox..

Sounds like you will be ready for the run. That's great to hear. As for my explorer it's not all the way done yet. When it's done I will let all of you know when the run will be. I'm thinking at the end of February.

I would say that I got about 2-3 more weeks to go.. right now I am buying a house and moving, so it's hard to find time to work on the explorer.

Here is what I got left to do on it. I have to do the wiring on the motor, I still need to do a solid mount on the transfer case and then I need to build bumpers and traction bars, drivelines, brake lines, exaust and shocks.

What do you all think about the 24th and 25th of Feb. ?

Get back to me,

Take care,
Oknut

Hi, well i think that i can get those days off from work. So i will request the 24 and 25 off. I can't wait, i have hosted 1or2 small runs ,the biggest besding 6 trucks, we had a blast but this will be the biggest yet. For any of you who want to be able to fit 33's a body lift will do the trick but there is a small amount of fender trimming involved that in most cases would need to be covered. it is just a 1/2" on the back side of the front fenders. and so far i am very satified with my detroit e-z loocker. they were both fairly easy to install and i am only 16 so you older guys shoud be able to do it with no problem.

well thanks for the chanse lookin forward to hearing from you!!

maybey in the futurer we will all get together at browns camp ( off of hwy 26 on the way to the coast) there are some very difficult but fun trails there. All the trails are marked for distance and difficulty.it would be a fun trip. Just a thought.

Hi again,

I'm glad you got everything working. Have you ever heard of the foster lake mud bog ? (it's in Oregon) I would like to go there some day. They have an event every year and you actually have to buy tickets to go. That's where all the big boys play. Would be fun to go watch.

Why do you have to ask for time off ? do you work on weekends ?

Have a good one.

A bit confused...

I get the whole pot luck thing. Fine idea.

I am in need a bit of clarity however.

It's BYOM/B, that's cool.

However, for those us or (or, perhaps, just me) who are not camping with you folks, what is going to be available to cook with?

Is someone supplying a grill?

Is it s BIG grill???? Lots of little ones? BYO Stick to put in the fire?? :-)

There's a lot of folks signed up, so I'm just curious what kind of infrastructure will be available.

So, to be clear, what else do I need to bring besides my Meat and Beverages.

Thanx!

HI okaynut, yes i have heard of it and can't remember what time of year it is held so i would have to ask around for that information. but o will let you know asap. i think that my friends dad took his 78 f350 with 35's and he got stuck. it really is for the big boys like you. And ya i work on the weekends cuase i go to school during the week but ti have a cool boss, he will let me have it off. I don't know if you saw that i am only 16, well 17 in 2 weeks. and yes i have made or installed everything on my truck, including heads lift locker ect. well i'll talk to you later i have to do some ordering for that kkm air filter kit and hopefully the after cat exhaust. later!

Hey Bert,

The whole idea is to do some 4xing, We will have to find out who wants to camp out up in the woods, if we do that we will just have to have a great big fire. I guess there are some people who wanna stay at a campsite and there are a few around here.

I worked on the expo all day today and it's getting closer and closer to being done. Made a custom cross member for the Dana 24 t-case, got it mounted and made a rear driveline. Got the heat box back in it. hooked up the brake lines in the front. Got the power steering box figured out and installed. Now all I need to do is figure out the pulleys, and fan. Need to get some more hoses and do some wiring. Guess I have a lot left still. In two weeks i'm having a guy build me bumpers.

Well I have to run

Take care,

Oknut,

There is a holiday weekend in February and that might be a good time if you want to get people to come from farther away. It's also between the Truckhaven Run and Moab, so that might work. The holiday is President's Day. I'm not sure which weekend it is though. Also email Rick and he might be able to make an announcement for you. I'll talk to Rick about it also, but more gets accomplished when it comes from the people on the board than from me. Maybe we'll come up if it's over the holiday weekend. I know I will have a least one day off, if not 2. Good luck.

oknut, i would love to camp-out over the weekend so count me in.
and i don't at all mind camping in the woods, infact i prefer that we don't stay at a camp site. thats kind of boring, it is more fun when you know there is nothing under your sleeping bag but your tent and the ground below your tent. What ever way i am in.

OH and i foound out what's wrong with me winch, the jerk who sold me my ciliniods(?) sold me a 24 and 36 VOLT INSTEAD OF 12 VOLT!!!!!!! the reason i had to buy some new ones was that the old ones had taken on watter and didn't work. so i went and spent $60 on the best two ciliniods that i could find and the jek sold me the worng ones. And to put injury ontop of insult i thought i had burnt them and so did my fahter, so we took them apart to figer out what went rong. So i have to through out another $60 to fix.
See you later.

??????

HAY are you guys out there. i haven't heard from you in almost a week? whats up are we still going? let me know i really am looking forward to it. i'm stiil up for camping, well talk to you later.

Hey everyone,

There has been a slight change of plans.. There is an event down in Oregon, close to Foster lake and I am gonna trailor my truck down there. It's on the 3rd on March. We can still camp out in the woods and do some 4xing if you all want to. Or you could all try to get tickets for the oregon bog.

I just don't wanna break anything on my truck the weekend before the big event.

Thanks guys and i'm sorry for the change of plans.

Thats cool, if your truck still runs after the event maybe we can go up wheelin the next day or the next weekend. i know some really good spots along the power line at browns camp, only trucks with 33's or bigger can make it up-or with a locker. Not a hole lot of hazards to deal with but should be alot of fun.

There is now way that i could do the foster lake bog, not with the stock engine and only 33's. so let me know i'm pretty flexable.

later.

Hey Fox,

A lot of people go to foster lake to watch. I think there are a lot of people going down there with us. I have two friends who are gonna trailor their trucks also.

I'm gonna talk to a few people and maybe they would be interested in doing a trail run the next day. Not sure tho.

You were saying that the trail down there, you would need bigger tires, that's what I was worried about up here. Because when I had my 33" boggers I had a hard time in some of the ruts up here, So a lot of the people would get stuck.

Well I better get going, later

cool!

Ya well, the trails down here are pretty hard but when i say that they will need 33's i'm not positive that they will, when i had my 30/9.50 i could not make it up some of the hills, but on the really hard sections of the trail you can go around by gravel road, or they can be winched up. the area we would go to is a real recreation area. it's not some old cat roads that have deep ruts or anythign corny like that. the area is very large, it took my frien and i all summer to ride the area on dirt bikes and that was going up every weekend. And the intire area is maped out with difficulty levels, what can fit ion the trail and how long it is. so i think it would be a blast if we could go. maybe if got a list of the people that would be interested and what thier vehicle are equiped with then we could decide if we want to do this or if we want to bag it for anohter time.

well i got to get back to work so i'll catch you later.
