Does anyone have a breakdown of the sizes of sway bars (factory), that came on the 1991-current explorers and what years interchanged?

It appears the rear sway bar is the same from 1991 to 1998 judging from the poly bushing listings.

Just looking for some alternatives ... and as you guessed, this is not for a serious off road machine. Just some on road stability.

Mark.

I dont know about pre '95.. but '95-97 and '98-01 will interchange.

91-94, 95-97, 98+ front bars are all different, but you can put a 98+ front on a 95-97 with a little tweaking.

As for the rears, they're all pretty much the same shape. To put a 95+ rear on a 91-94 You'd have to use the original bushings and endlinks I think.

IMO it's better to just get a 91-94 swaybar kit from Explorer Express; the front bar does most of the work anyway.

Alec.. think I could put a 95-97 bar on a 98+ Explorer?? If yes, how?? :D

Why would you want to do that, it is a weaker bar?

But its the only bar I have! :D My '99 chassis did not have a sway bar for some reason. I'll probably have to break down and buy one somewhere. I just haven't been running one for the last three months and I'm getting tired of the 2mph turns.

Well, if you already have one then just try it ;) I'd always thought they were exactly the same (except the 98 being solid), but have since been told differently.

Well I have tried it. What I found was the bar clamp mounting holes are further apart than the ones on the '99 frame. Also, I thought the new sway bars were a different thickness than the '96 one, so I couldn't just swap mounting clamps. Any idea?

Section - its $$$, but we need people for EE sway bars group buy ;)... check out:

They should be the same thickness, you should be able to just get 95-97 clamps.

V8- The problem is I'll need the clamps and bushings too.

Alec- I'll just try to get my hands on some 98+ clamps.. thanks!
