well on my last day of school, i tried to ford the flooded street in front of the building to get in... and well.. i didnt make it! is was all good and all until i went up the ramp to the the lot were it dips down before going up. that dip put my air intake underwater. and then other passing cars thought... "well if an explorer cant make it, i can!" and sure as hell.. they were like submaries.. all stucked and flooded the interior. dumb civic owners =cP. anywho...

after pulling and replacing the spark plugs, and changing the oil filter and oil, i got the truck started! (gotta love ford!).

what else should i check or change now that this happened? what should i look out for? does anybody have anything they'd like to share with me about my experience?!

thanks guys

Change your differential fluids. The diffs have a breather hose that isn't very long, and after going through a bath like that, you've probably got water in your diffs. You might want to extend the hoses with good quality stuff just in case you decide to go "gung-ho" again... LOL!

Not too long ago I got my 94XLT stuck in a river.
I changed both diffs, and oil. My tranny is a auto, its sealed, but my auto transfer case has a breather, so i had to change its fluid. I think manual trannys have breathers, so you'd have to change that as well.
I also had to change power steering fluid, and add coolant, as some washed out into the river. Oh, I had to rip out most of the carpet.
After chatting with some other river runners, I found out how lucky I was, because I have had no trouble with the computer. If it gets wet, you might have problems.
If I think of anything else I had to do, I'll let ya know.

i'm not sure about all years.. but the 1992 XLT with auto tranny does have a vent. It is just a small tube at the tob of the tranny. I hooked mine with the breather on the xfer case and then ran it into the Engine compartment and put on a k&n filter.
