 So i have a 97 ford explorer 4x4 xlt and the tranny keeps leaking out of the overflow tube.It started when i put 1qt of type f fluid in it so i could make it home.next day i looked when i cut my car off and it was blowing out of the oveflow trube. So i changed the fluid.I know it does not take type f but thats all i had at the time being. It is not slipping of anything. It was rebuilt a 2 years ago and it has no problems but that.Could it be the filter? im lost!!

Fluid coming out your vent tube is usually a sign of the fluid overheating. You said you had to add a quart just so you could get home, was it not going into gear? What condition was the old fluid in when you changed it? When you check your fluid level, is your engine on and transmission in park?
