I own a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT, the truck won't start unless the accelerator pedal is to the floor (won't start otherewise) and shuts off once I take my foot off the gas (if I keep my foot on the gas works fine). Any suggestions on what may be causing this? Fuel regulator/ fuel pump possibly?

Thanks:mad:

idle air control (IAC) valve

takes a few seconds to replace and i agree with robert.

do it yourself replacement unless its under warranty!

Sounds like Robert made the correct call' I agree.

Thanks for your help guys - I took the truck to Ford and they diagnosed it as the IAC valve (still under extended warranty until 100K so it was covered -had the rear wiper motor replaced while I was at it)
