my Bass broke my explorer's transmission!

My explorer's transmission fudged up one afternoon while I wasn't even gunning the gas pedal. Basically I busted 2nd somehow, and it was going to 6000+rpm (yes that is redline) in 1st gear till it jumped into 3rd gear...

crafty me... I found out a way to get it into "broken" 2nd gear...

anyhow, doesn't matter because it's terribly broken (and two headers were obviously leaking too...)

Wel... Looks like I'm going to be spending enough to buy me a Viper 2500D and a couple more B15s... too bad it's not going towards that....

$2500 estimate (and I'm not being ripped off, it's a family business that does all our car work)

can someone spell G A Y? I hate these kinda things...

What does the estimate include- hopefully more than reseal and clutches. Seems awfully high to me- with new converter, and pump, hard parts I would think 16-1800 would be more in line. Have they built the A4LD family before?

Good Luck

I honestly don't have a clue what's being done in full... all I know is that most of the transmission is being rebuilt amoung a couple other things...

man... I'm freaking out that someone is somehow gonna steal my audio stuff... I've heard too many stories on this... even though they are locking it up inside the garage at night...

I don't have a clue what that means, lol

Your trans is a 4R55e which is in the same family as the A4LD transmission. Just looking for experience when you have your trans rebuilt.

they were for the most part familiar with the explorer... but I'm pretty sure experience won't be a problem
