extended warranty

i purchased my truck from a used dealer
i bought a 2 yr extended warranty its a powertrain
engine and tranny.. u guys have any experience dealing with indepent warranties?

some friends tell me that i just wasted my money?

it was a small dealer
purchased a powertrain warranty
i paid like 150 for it..
its for 2 yrs 24 000 km

I have an extended warranty with 1Source ( http://www.1sourceautowarranty.com/Vehicle.asp and it has paid for itself several times over.

When I bought my Explorer new in '97, I opted not to get extended warranty for $500 for 3 additional years past the standard 3 years/30,000 miles. I figured what could brake down from a brand new truck in 6 years. As it turned out I needed that warranty just after 3.5 years. Lesson learned.
