OK, let me start with a disclaimer: I tried using the search feature but to no avail.
I was just sitting here thinking about swaping engines and trannys (I have way too much time on my hands) and being a die hard manual trans fan, I wondered about which manual trannies could be used in a 302 explorer swap. I know that many people have used the T-5 but that doesn't interest me. I have two questions:
1) whats the difference between the M50D-R1 in explorers and rangers and the M50D-R2 found in f-150s and f-250s?
2) Would it be possible to use a M50D-R2 in an explorer V-8 swap? I mean the M50D-R2 bolts up to the stock 302 in f-150s. From what I've gathered the M50D-R2 isn't much different from the M50D-R1 at all. If someone has done this swap please tell me about it.
