Spray some penetrating oil wd40 onto the area where the plate meets the metal backing. Let it sit for a while to allow the oil to seep into the gap.
Then, use a hair dryer to heat the area around the plate.
Use a thin, flat tool a credit card, a thin screwdriver to carefully pry the plate away from the metal backing. Be cautious not to damage the surrounding console or plate.

Use a trim removal tool, If the plate is held in place by clips or snaps, try using a trim removal tool to gently release them.

Welcome to the Forum.
Unless the option was ordered, the Explorer doesn't have a "cigarette socket". They are called "power points" in case you want to use the manual to look them up.;)

Welcome to this forum! There are trim removal tools which are made out of plastic so that it doesn't leave marks.
Harbor Freight sells a set of blue plastic trim tools, work great

Harbor Freight has a set of blue plastic ones that work quite well. Various sizes and shapes

I bought a set of red plastic trim tools, but unfortunately most of them they broke.
