I need Help!

I am looking to have a remote starter installed, and I am wondering if the factory alarm will work with it.

My question is... Is the factory alarm activated by a relay inside the truck when the locks are locked? or is there a different set up for that. All information will be very helpful and appreciated.

Thank you for all your help.

There is no factory alarm. If it has an alarm it was dealer installed when new. You sure it has 1? You have a alarm remote & it's working now?
If so you best bet is to replace the entire thing with a new remote start/alarm combo. There are remote starters that may work with th unit in the X, but for the price of it plus install your better off getting something all in 1, brand new & up to date.

Really? There was no factory alarm in 94's? I have a 94 Limited with one. Lock it, shut the doors, "Anti Theft" flashes on the dash for 30 seconds, then it's armed. Open a door without disarming it (using the Ford factory remote) and it starts blowing the horn. The remote has a "Panic" button on it as well. It's all detailed in the owners manual.

Never seen one. Maybe some of the 94 limiteds had them then. I know units were dealer installed. I came across a few 94's that had those kinds. Never know what you get with Fords in the 90's :D

it could have a factory (not dealer installed) alarm. the only info i have is this:

FORD, EXPLORER, 1994, Factory Alarm Disarm

Anti-theft module located by keyless in rear. Keyless-entry module located in left rear quarter panel.

most explorers anf fords for that matter will arm when the vehicle is locked with a door open. you can try opening the driver's door (put the window down), lock the vehicle with the switch on the driver's door then shut the door. wait a minute or two for the alarm to fully set then reach through and open the door from the inside. if the horn starts going off then you there ya go. honestly though, for the price you're better off getting a new alarm that will be ten times better than the factory unit if an alarm is that much of a concern for you
