I have the factory alarm installed on my 2006 xlt. I have a question that has been bothering me ever since I bought my Ex. How do I lock the doors with out turning the alarm on? I have tried pushing the door lock button, and that doesn't work. When you push the key fob once fifteen seconds later the Ex honks its horn and flashes parking lights to indicate the alarm is now activated. If you push the button twice it just honks louder, and activates the alarm quicker. The same thing happens if I press the lock door lock button, fifteen seconds later the alarm is on.
On the 2006 + models there isn't one of those little things that sticks up on the rear gate that indicates weather or not the door is locked. That means manually locking each door is not an option because you cannot lock the rear gate, (no key hole on rear gate).

So no one thinks I have not thought of it, there is a valet mode I can activate by turning the key forward three times in the ignition. Are there any other options that don't require as much work???

Do a test.

1. roll the window down.
2. lock the door with the fob, wait about a minute. Reach in and unlock the door with the interrior handle. If the horn honks its an alarm, however there has not been a true factory alarm on explorers since 05. Its just a glorified keyless entry.
3. Enjoy a beer and wonder why ford sells them with an "alarm" on them and get pissed at them.

Okay i am not sure if your being funny but what you said is funny. Here is the problem, i had the alarm installed by ford when i bought my Ex, it already had keyless entry when i bought it, so no, its not a glorified Keless alarm, its a real alarm. ie, engine demobilizer, and it has vibration, and glass sensors that activate the horn, i think its got something else too but i can't remeber what it is.

they should have installed a valet switch under the dash somewhere

to activate valet mode i have to turn the key forward three times, and yes their is a button under the dash, how ever you only press it to disarm the alarm once it starts going off.

Enjoy a beer part trying to be funny.

However I assumed it was just a factory keyless (a lot of people call it an alarm). I would talk to the dealership that put it in. If you dont have the manual they should be able to get you one. Most of the time the alarm is actually made by Code Alarm. If it is they should be able to help.

ah i guess your right, i will just have to deal with it, oh well:D
Thanks GUYS:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have found if you leave the driver door open, use the Key Fob to lock the doors, doesn't matter if you press the lock button once or twice, Just make sure the doors are locked while you still have the doors open. Then press the Unlock button on the Key Fob once, alowing only the driver door to unlock, and manually locking that door. then shut the door. It works for me, I live in an apartment complex, and it's rude to have your alarm going off at 3 in the morning everynight when the neighbor starts his engine to go to work.

Hmmm, thank you i will be trying this one tomorrow, cant do it right now cause its already to late, don't want to wake up anyone.

If you have the same one as my GF's 02, then the led is the valet, you just press it to enter valet (key in the ON possition and system disarmed) to exit valet just do the same
