Was deciding on where to post as it is technically a modification and decided to post it here because everything else is stock on this one. So anyways wife bought a 2001 Explorer and everything has been fine for the most part. I installed an aftermarket touchscreen cd/dvd player ( believe the brand was Nitro, never heard of it before ) almost a year ago and all has been good until something funky happened the today. I plugged in my mp3 player to charge on my car charger and then plugged it into the deck and it started making alot of static so I unplugged it ( It has never done that before ). Well the static is still going on after unplugging mp3, turning the car off, disconnecting the battery, checking base and inline fuses on cd player , fuse panel was all good, only thing I can think of would be it has a factory amp and that is the source.. or its something internally with the cd player. Going to hook my deck from my Explorer up tomorrow and see if it is the player but if it is not where is the factory amp located in Explorers? Would be nice to know.
