Are the factory amps known to go bad? I just picked up a 1991 Explorer and after cleaning up the rat nests of wiring the old owner did I put it all back to factory wiring and using the factory amp. Turned it on and it worked for the most part. Just the right rear speaker didnt work.
So I said whatever I deal with it later. Came back out and tried it again and now the front right and rear right speakers dont work. Connections are good. Im not getting any power coming out of the amp to both of those speaker. Got power going into the amp on them but none coming out so it must be internal in the amp correct?
I made a jumper for the speaker to bypass the amp and it works but its not all the loud/great sounding. Would running new speaker wires from the headunit straight to the speaker work better and bypass the amp all together and just use the internal amp on the headunit? Its a Sony headunit by the way.
