Hey, when I had my factory stereo replaced with an aftermarket one, the guys really chopped up the wiring. They left the factory connectors behind the radio in tact, but apparently they cut apart one of the wires and then spliced it back together about 3 inches from the connector. It appears that it is connected to the same wire it was disconnected from. To make things even more worse, I have the Premium Audio System and instead of using the Amp bypass kit, they just chopped off the connectors and spliced the wires together. This wasn't a problem though until today when all of a sudden I have no sound out of my right rear speaker! I'm going to try and check all the splicing for a problem, but what I am really wondering is if I can buy a replacement harness for the system. I would like to buy the harnesses that Ford originally used and then run them around the car. That to me seems like the best option if my search for the problem fails. Initially I had thought that I had blown that speaker, but that doesn't make any sense either. The only other thing I can check is the receiver it self.
My explorer is a 1995 XLT 4dr that originally had the Premium Audio System. I really don't like the idea of splicing and if I could find the replacements for the original harnesses, I would seriously consider replacing them. If anyone knows anywhere on the net that I could get them, great. Even part numbers would work really well. Thanks in advance.
