Factory keyless entry codes?

OK Guys be gentile this is my first post and this may have been talked about many times but I couldnt find it. I read in a post that after removing some inside trim panels that you could get to, I guess a sticker or something, that had the factory code on it. Thats cheaper than getting the dealer to do it. So does anyone know what trim panels need to be removed and where this code is located? Oh by the way this is a 02 XLT 4.0 and this is for the buttons outside on the drivers door.

I found my code on a computer box located in the back, of my 98 sport, in the compartment with the jack. I removed the access cover where the jack is located and it was in there but it was up inside where I could barley see it. But I was abele to use a mechanics mirror to read the code off the label on the top/side of the box. I would look it this area first. Hop this helps

here you go


Step 1 - fold the rear passesnger seat
Step 2 - pull the rubber door seal out (rear upper section only)
Step 3 - The upper panel where the seat belt adjuster is can be easily pried out, you'll see the clips after you remove the rubber weather stripping
Step 4 - There is a clip on the lower part of this panel that can be easily popped out
Step 5 - Now you can pry lightly on the lower panel, you'll see the module when you look down inside after prying open the upper panel.
Step 6 - I used a small mirror, and found a 5 digit number on the black module box. The white sticker has black text and is is facing the drivers side so without a mirror you'd really need to get the lower panel loosened to pry it out more.

It was easy - 5 mins tops.
Step 7 snap everything back together - no tools required - except the mirror.

Thanks guys, it was a piece of cheese 33667 now all you have to do is find the car. Works great now no more sweatin when my kids lock the keys in the car.
Thanks again love this forum, had a Jeep Wrangler TJ before and the forums for that were a little to hard core for my taste, also learning this X is a very capable 4WD unit and thats compairing it to a Wrangler.
