- 96 Explorer V8
Hello, I am new to the forums. I would start in the Introductions section but have just signed up because I have a problem tension the fan belt on my 96 V8 Explorer.
I have read a number of posts, but am clueless about how to adjust the tensioner.
This is the diagram of the belt routing:

And this is a view of the tensioner:

Above the tensioner is a plastic 'cover' with a directional arrow showing how to turn it.
Unfortunately, I am clueless as to what I adjust. The plastic bit looks fragile and I don't want to start bang it without knowing what I'm doing.
If anyone could give me some pointers, it would be great.
I am in Mexico and that's making things a little more, er, complicated.
Thanks in advance...

MY undertanding is that I am looking for a square hole on the tensioner pulley. Can't see where that is.
