Fan Clutch Removal Help

hoping you guys can help...

which way do you turn the nut to remove the fan clutch on 93 explorer?

I just looked it up on Mitchell on demand. Says clockwise while looking at it from front of vechichle. Is that correct?

Unfortunetly, I looked this up after trying, could i have damaged it in trying to remove it in the wrong direction??

naa, its kinda hard to mess that up. not a reverse thread on these. turn left to loosen.

You sure? Think its reversed, think it says on the fan shroud

the clutch has an arrow pointing left. funny, some say clockwise some say counter. if anyone knows, it would be appreciated. otherwise I will report back after more trial and error.

i have a 1991 mazda navajo 4.0 and you turn it right to put on and left to remove it, so yeah.

It says on the fan shroud.check that if you still have it.ill check mine when i get home

yep. fan shroud says right hand thread on fan clutch, so righty-tighty lefty-loosey.

thats funny cause i actually have my fan taken off for the winter and currently am using a 12 inch electric fan. i had to run out to my shop just now and pull the shroud off my shelf and check for you.

Yep just went by my garage to check and it says right hand also.i have had a efan since ive got it,ten years plus.i just couldnt remember

I've owned a few & have seen them thread left & right hand. So the answer is both but what's on your fan shroud should indicate it.

This was my point and why i said check his but not going to argue with someone that thinks everyone "IS" the same so.

yeah good call on the fan shroud, thank you for pointing it out. it was quite obviously written on it, lol. also, whoever installed before put fan on backwards, making it very difficult to access the clutch nut and fan bolts. that is why I reached out to you guys to save effort and that everyone I asked outside of here gave me different answers. I have since heard this model had both, as well. another trick I learned along the way I'll share is to hit nut couple times with chisel to loosen.
