I am a little confused. I have replaced my fair share of blower motor resistors over the years on many different vehicles. Some are simple resistance Springs, some have been more elaborate printed circuit boards.
Usually one or several of the fan speeds does not work when the resister go to bad, but generally max speed will still work. My 2006 explorer with the basic manual air-conditioning system seems normal on fan speed three and four, but one and 2 both seem exactly the same like the way I would expect fan speed 1 to feel normally. I have never experienced this on any other vehicle and I’m wondering if anyone else has.
