Hi All,

My best friend turned me on to you guys when I was telling him about my A/C fan switch problem. I have a new (to me) 2002 Sport Trac and the fan seems to be on low all the time. My only speed option that works is high. I replaced the switch but it still does the same thing. The A/C cools fine. I went to the dealer and the mechanic advised me to replace the resistor that is under the hood and this did not help either and I am running out of money!!!

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

could be the blower motor too,
they have a bushing, and when it wears out, the armature drops out of center, then the fan pretty well stops working
pull out the motor and see if it spins freely (in the same position it would be in the truck)

What did the resistor connector look like? Mine was melted.
Here is your wiring diagram, it should help you track it down.

Looks like you have a couple relays to check out.

looking at the schematic
...the high speed relay may be malfunctioning, to test this put a jumper wire between connections 30 and 87a for that relay and try the lower speeds.
if it fixes the problem swap the relay, if it doesn't fix the problem, it's wiring/connections.

Did you replace the relay or the resistor? The relay would be in the power distribution box on the driver's side of the engine bay. The resistor is just under the blower motor on the passenger side of the engine bay. Your symptoms are the exact one that I had and replacing the resistor fixed my problem.

You still down in the Keys? I'm in Miami myself. Welcome to the forum.
