Hey Guys,
I'm sorry to say that I am no longer a 2002-2005 owner. While I miss my '03 XLT V8, I'm happy to say that since I bleed blue, I purchased a 2015 Limited. I am shocked how different the two are. And I can say that I won't miss all the issues needing repair/maintenance that the 2003 had along with the day-to-day annoying stuff of this generation that seemed unfixable (or expensive) like the rear end gear hum, torque converter rattling like a diesel, bearings wearing out, front end shaking, Door Ajar light etc. But it wasn't all bad... while I will miss the slight torque advantage of the V8, the truck has served me well up until 131K miles. I purchased it in 2010 with 72K miles and ever since, the motor would start right up each day in extreme cold or heat and it was ready to go. It pulled strong and never left me stranded. And I do absolutely LOVE the 2002-2005 body. I think it was one of the best Ford produced. I had the 17" wheels and they were just awesome on it.
I was hoping to say that the truck is living on with the new owner, but unfortunately the new owner called me 3 weeks later telling me the motor seized and even the Ford dealer can't get it started. Other than a coolant issue it had (which I told the new owner about), I'm stumped as to what would cause the motor to suddenly die. It always started right up for me ever since I owned it. I really hope the new owner was able to get her started again. He's a mechanic after all. Any ideas what it could be? I'd love to help him out.
Anyway, overall for 5 years and approx 60K miles, I LOVED my 2003 Black XLT V8. Okay, time to figure out all this new tech on the 2015.
