Not sure how to test for which wheel bearing is bad but I just fixed the same brake light problem. Brake lights (including high mount) would often stay on after 02 Mounty was turned off (killing batt. which finally needed replacement). Found on this forum that just removing and reinstalling will sometimes be a cure. When I wiggled the wiring and switch I could get the lights off but they would come back on after closing the door (PITA). I removed the switch, opened it up, cleaned and a drop of ultra fine oil (gun oil). When I reinstalled it I noticed it sat much firmer and had no more slop. I could move it up & down ever so slightly however and it would make a click sound and the lights would come on but the switch would always set itself back to the right position. I guess after so many pushes on it (10 years) the switch can just get sloppy and a simple reinstall will set it back properly. 4 weeks and no problems. Hope this helps. BTW, taking out the switch & install is very simple, fast and cheap !!

to check for a bad wheel bearing jack the truck up lifting the suspected wheel off the ground. take both hands, one at 12 o'clock, one at 6 o'clock, and push and pull both hands. if there is "play" when you do that, then the bearing is bad. if it is solid and doesn't move, move on to the next wheel and try the same thing

And sometimes you can do this test and will get no results on any of them. I've had two bad front wheel bearings and NEITHER of them had a bit of play in them. You can also jack up the wheels and spin them and listen. If you can do it safely, you can jack up all 4 and put it in 4WD and let it run in gear at idle speed. You'll be able to hear them then.
