As the title says there are things I can't get to work like the ownwes manual says they should.

Memory key-If I understand the feature correctly you should be able to program each key so when one person comes to drive the vehicle and unlocks the door the memory seats should move to the preset. The manual desribes how to do this by holding down the memory until there are two beeps, push the lock button, wait 10 seconds then push the unlock button. Still, when my wife, with her key walks up to the truck it doesnt work.

Remote start-This seems simple enough but I can only get it to work when I'm literally standing right beside the truck. I've tried it in several locations to make sure it wasn't radio Interference but it's the same result. kind of defeats the purpose of remote start if I have to be right beside the vehicle.

Both features work for me, and it sounds like you know what you're doing.

My car will start calling up my preset as soon as I reach for the door handle, even if it's already unlocked.

I can remote start at least a 100' away with line of sight.

The key to the remote start is getting the sequence and the timing just right. First, you have to press the lock button first, then the start button twice. You have to do it QUICKLY. e.g. you cant have even a short delay between any of the button presses or it will not work. Don't hold down the buttons at all, just press and go to the next button. I had issues at first when I was being too deliberate with the buttons and the sequence.

The only other thing that could be the problem is perhaps your remotes battery needs to be changed, however if you can lock/unlock from a distance then that is not the issue and it indeed is the timing.

Any idea on the range that remote start works?

Ive been able to remote start by at least 300ft without an issue. I am actually quite surprised with the distance for a factory system.

Have you tried pressing the unlock key on the IA keyfob that you programmed? The way I intrepreted the manual is that you need to physically press the button on the keyfob in order for the memory recall feature to work.

Nope...the presence of the fob coupled with an unlock gesture will recall the memory. It's that cool!

Well if that's the procedure for programing they need to revise the manual as there isn't mention of using the fob for the lock & unlock sequence. It shows a lock and unlock picture which both the fob and door have. thanks for the tip. I'll try it tomorrow.

Duh.. yea that worked! I was doing the same thing as the OP in using the door buttons :( Now it works just the way it's supposed to.

As for the remote start. For me it's hit-or-miss. There is no ryhme or reason for why sometimes it works and others it does not (that includes unlocking the doors). I've changed the batteries in the remotes and that did not help. I don't think it's a radio interference thing either because it works differently when the car is parked in the same place. We've also noticed that one of the remotes often times is unrecognized when going down the road. Because of this we've resorted to only using one remote.

Sounds like you have a wonky remote. The dealer should be able to take care of that for you.

It is an intermitent problem and the dealer was not able to recreat the problem therefore we are stuck with it according to the Ford District Manager

Key fob method worked so now it's only the remote start I need to get use to. I'll have to call the dealer to get the door code as the piece of paper he wrote it on walked away.

The factory code should be in a credit card looking thing in your manual pack and up under the driver's footwell on a black box between the parking brake and the brake. It's 5 digits long.

Have you experienced this recently, 2FST4U? I want to see this resolved, so I’m happy to arrange for the Customer Service Manager for your region to call you again. Please drop me a line via PM if you’re interested.

MikeFreas,

Oh no! I hate it when things “walk away” like that!
