You know, right after I bought my 99 XLT, I started seeing those XLT Sport models with the matched bumpers, fender flares, and side XLT badge (where the V8 logo goes). A few months too early...grrr...
Anyway, I like the look of the 99+ fender flares, because they have that little ridge or lip. They look visually the same as the EB fender flares. So I started thinking about getting a set. I still think they look the nicest of any flare available...
BUT...upon visual inspection of EBs and Sport XLTs in parking lots, I noticed a potential problem. Along the bottom third of a regular XLT door, you have that moulding strip that extends across the door and continues on to the rear of the front fender well. This strip comes awful close to the well, and doesn't look like there would be enough room to accommodate a fender flare - the flare looks like it would sit on top of this strip. Sure enough, the XLT Sports (and I think the EBs) have a moulding strip on the front fender well that is SHORTER that a regular XLT. In that case there's plenty of room for the flare.
I don't know how that strip is attached, or if it could be replaced easily. Take a look, & let me know if this makes sense.
